Keyboard shortcuts

The usual ones work as they do in most programs: save, open, new, undo, copy and paste, select all. Nothing on the keyboard starts the machine moving, except the arrow keys and Page Up and Page Down while the jog panel is open.

While a dialog is open, it has the keyboard: Enter to accept, Esc to cancel. In a text box, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V and the rest work on the text, as always.

Keys What it does
Ctrl+S Save. The first time, it asks where. After that, it saves straight back to the same file. A drawing you opened saves back to its own file. In the desktop app this lasts after closing and reopening 454 Design; in a browser, while the page stays open. Works while typing in a box too.
Ctrl+Shift+S Save as (also a button in the File group): always asks, to save a copy under another name or somewhere else. Save then goes to the new file.
Ctrl+O Open a drawing, a VCarve project, DXF or SVG files, or an image to trace.
Ctrl+N New drawing. An unsaved drawing is put aside: Recover last drawing brings it back. (In a browser, Ctrl+N opens a new browser window instead: use the New button.)
Keys What it does
Ctrl+Z Undo
Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z Redo
Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X Copy or cut the selection, with its dimensions (Copy and paste)
Ctrl+V Paste, centred on the pointer
Ctrl+Shift+V Paste in place, exactly where it was copied from
Ctrl+D Duplicate the selection, with its dimensions, 10 mm right and down (what you copied stays as it was)
Ctrl+A Select all (not shapes on hidden or locked layers)
Delete Delete the selection, or the selected dimension
Arrow keys Nudge the selection 1 mm; with Shift, 0.1 mm
Ctrl+G Group the selection
Ctrl+U or Ctrl+Shift+G Ungroup
X Turn the selection into construction lines, or back

While a tool is waiting for a value, letters are part of what you type (R2.5, D5), and Enter takes it. With one shape selected, D sets its size; with two, the distance between them.
